Prithviraj in comedy role - Thejobhai and Family

Prithviraj moves into comedy track in the movie Thejobhai and Family directed by Deepu Karunakaran. It is heard that Prithvi was very much impressed after reading the script written by the director and immediately gave his date for the movie. Shooting is expected to begin next year. Actor Bala tied the knot

Tamil-Malayalam actor Bala and Star Singer fame Amrita Suresh got married. The wedding took place at the Siva Temple at Thirunintavur near Chennai on Friday 27th. Director Anil (Actress Kalpana's husband) and Tamil actor Kiran attended the function. The reception was held at Imperial Hotel in Egmore, Chennai on the same day. Another reception is planned on September fifth at Gokulam convention centre at Kochi.

Fazil is back with "Living Together

Fazil is back in action in Malayalam with his new movie Living Together starring new faces. Hemanth and Sreelekha were selected by Fazil after conducting screen tests to play the major characters in the movie. The movie is about the relationships from the perspective of the new generation. Cinematography is by Anandakkuttan. M Jayachandran scores the music. KPAC Lalitha, Kalpana and Anoop Menon also act in this movie. The movie is produced by Pilakkandi Muhamamed Basheer under the banner of Pilakkandi films.

"Malayalam movies produced for the sake of satellite rights" - Sasikumar

Majority of Malayalam movies are produced with the aim of making money through satellite rights - said famous media personality Sasikumar. He was talking at a movie seminar conducted at Max Muller Bhavan in Chennai. A minimum of Rs.1 Crore is guaranteed for movies starring Mammootty or Mohanlal. The producers are expecting only a small share from the movie theatres - told Sasikumar. |

Sarath Kumar in Dileep Production

Sarathkumar had a successful debut in Malayalam with the role of Edachena Kunkan in Pazhassi Raja. Malayali movie lovers were impressed by his performance as well as his body language and voice. Later he also played roles in Oridathoru Postman and Christian Brothers. But in all these movies there were other heroes and Sarathkumar was just one of the co-stars. Now Dileep is planning to cast Sarathkumar as the solo hero in the new movie Metro produced by him. Dileep believes that Malayalam audience will give Sarathkumar the same reception as that of Superstar movies. Sarathkumar plays the role of a Police officer in Metro directed by newcomer Vyasan Edavanakkadu. |

Channel Onam - Mammooty scores over Mohanlal 4-0

This Thiruvonam it was Mammootty who ruled almost all Malayalam channels. Surprisingly none of the major channels telecasted any Mohanlal movies.Pazzhassi Raja, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham, Chattambinadu and Kerala Cafe were the Mammootty movies that were telecasted on Thiruvonam. After Mammootty, it was Dileep whose two hit movies Swa.Le and Passenger that were screened on channels during Thiruvonam. Prithviraj's Puthiya Mukham was telecasted on Asianet.

Star Singer winner Joby still in danger zone

Malayali music-lovers were happy when Joby John won the Star Singer Season 4 telecasted in Asianet. Joby who hails from a very poor family near Thottilpalam in Kozhikode had put in a lot of struggle and had finally won the grand prize of villa worth Rs.1 Crore. But he is now in a helpless situation, though he is the legal owner of the villa, he is unable to take posession of it. He had the received the documents for the Travancore Builders villa on the Grand Finale stage. However, he will have to pay about Rs. 40 lakh as registration charges and tax to get the house in his name. "This house was God's gift for my last one and half years of hardwork. I have no idea from where I will be able to get such a huge amount of money. Asianet and Travancore Builders have informed that this will be discussed later. Only God knows what will happen", Joby told in an interview to a magazine. |

Arjunan Sakshi - Ranjith Sankar-Prithviraj movie

Ranjith Sankar who had won the best debutant director award for his movie Passenger, directs Arjunan Saskhi with Prithviraj as the hero. Shooting will begin in October at Hyderabad, Mumbai and Dubai. Script is also by Ranjith. Padmapriya is the heroine. Jagathy, Nedumudi Venu, Lalu alex, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Salim Kumar play the major roles.
