Rajuvum Ammayum - a real-life story

An aged mother and her mentally challenged son used to live in the Thekkinkadu Maithanam at Thrissur. The mother and son had to take refuge in the streets after her daughter threw both of them out of their home. They managed to survive with the food provided by some good souls. Their story had appeared in newspapers and now it will be picturised in the movie Rajuvum Ammayum directed by Devarajan. Madambu Kunjikkuttan writes the script.

Onam without Superstar movies

This is yet another Onam season without any superstar movies. However there are several movies planned for release during Onam. Vinayan's Yakshiyum Njanum with new faces playing the lead roles is the prominent among them. Pattinte Palazhi directed by Rajeev Anchal has Meera Jasmine returning to Malayalam after a few years interval. Neelambari starring actor Vineeth and Bhama and Vidya as his pairs is another movie released during this festival season. Athmakatha in which Sreenivasan playing the lead role and directed by newcomer Premlal is a movie where the audience has a lot of expectations. Small budget movies Plus Two, Thaskaralahala and Mukesh's Advocate Lakshmanan Ladies Only was released last week.

Swarnamalika - first Malayalam 3D Animation movie

The first Malayalam animation movie shot in 3-Dimension will amaze the viewers with its technological marvels. Swarnamalika directed and scripted by S Venkybabu tells the story of four music-crazy friends whose aim is to become rich at any cost. Music is by Ilayaraja. Madhu Balakrishnan, Pradeep Palluruthy and Franko has sung the songs in the movie. It is expected to be released early September. |

Actor VineethKumar ties the knot

Actor Vineethkumar married Sandhya, at the Guruvayoor temple yesterday. Actors Dileep, Sudheesh, KPAC Lalitha and lyricist S Rameshan Nair attended the wedding. Vineeth is now acting in director Rajesh Jayaraman's movie Ithu Njangalude Katha. |

Malayalam Actor Subair passed away

Subair, a famous and popular actor in the Malayalam film industry, breathed his last yesterday. Following a cardiac arrest, he was admitted to a hospital in Kochi and died there. The actor was only 47 years old. Subair made his cinematic debut with Maantrika Cheppu in the year of 1992. He has many TV serials and nearly 200 movies to his credit. He excelled particularly in essaying the characters with negative shades. He is memorable for his roles in Tiger, Nadia Kollappeetta Rathri, Pazhassi Raja and Bharathchandran I P S. A few days before his death, the actor was done with the shooting for Thriller that B Unnikrishnan has directed. Subair's wife gave birth to their second child last month. The mishap took place when the actor along with his family was returning from shopping. |

Mohanlal-Jayaram-Dileep in ChinaTown

Three brave men coming from different parts in Kerala meets at China Town. It is a Chinese colony in Goa which is ruled by druglords, goons and mafia.When these characters played by Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep lands at China town, the whole picture change. This comedy entertainer is directed by Rafi Mecartin. There will be three heroines, Kavya will pair with Dileep, other are not yet decided. The movie produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Ashirwad banner will be released during Vishu 2011.

Seema will act in Avalude Ravukal - 2

Seema has finally agreed to act in sequel to Avalude Ravukal. There was news earlier that Shwetha Menon will play the character played by Seema in the original hit movie. But Shwetha had declined to play the role. She alleged that the people associated with the sequel had publicized that she will play the role in the movie without discussing with her. Seema said she considers it an honour to act in the sequel to the movie which she had acted 30 years back. Seema had played the role of a sex-worker in Avalude Ravukal. In the sequel she plays the same character aged 38 years who is a millionaire and has an 18 year old daughter.

Vinayan's Yakshiyum Njanum for Onam release

After several weeks of controversies, finally Vinayan's Yakshiyum Njanum is planned for release during Onam. Exhibitors Federation and Exhibitors Association plans to release the movie on August 19th in 70 theatres. It was agreed to release the movie after the producer assured to settle the issues existing between the Film Chamber and the Producers Association before the August 12th.

Jayasurya as thief in Kingfisher

Jayasurya will act as a thief who is liked by all in Aji John's new movie Kingfisher. Dileep had played a similiar role several years back in Meesha Madhavan which was a great success. Actor Anoop Menon writes the script for this movie. Anoop also plays the role of a police officer who chases the thief. Roma and Samvritha are the heroines. Jayasurya was also the hero in Aji John's first movie Nallavan directed by him.
